I started work on this shawl three years ago, just before one of a long series of storms. There is no pattern, just a general direction or two. Increase at each end and twice in the middle every other row, and start a new sort-of-a-motif every twenty or so rows. The motif doesn’t deserve such a grand name, since it’s just a paired increase/decrease on either side of a center stitch, out as much as three stitches. The last forty or so rows, I even got serious about doing things in a predictable pattern.

The great thing about this not-really-a-pattern is that I could work on it anytime, anywhere, and so most of it was worked outside.

I even put in stealth beads, in sort of a pattern, sometimes. I’m not even going to block it. It turned out exactly right.
