I snagged Daughter on Thursday and took her back to Superior, just for a change of pace. We were driving home Friday afternoon when I saw something I didn’t recognize, eating something equally unrecognized, about 50 feet off the road. After much spluttering and confusion, and after checking the rear-view mirror, I yelled “Detour,” forcefully applied the brakes and made a U-turn. We got along side, but Daughter couldn’t see as well as I could, so another U-turn and we were on the same side of the road as this;

I’ve never seen a Golden eagle before. We’re all about the Balds up here. Daughter got the shot with her point-and-shoot. I am so proud.

And we added a new term to our personal lexicon.
