This is just one of them. Yale’s Beinecke rare book library has huge thin-cut marble panels that let in an awareness of the light outside. Rippling walls and open spaces and natural materials. The one in Russia reminds me of the computer in Hitchhiker’s Guide. All designed to make you feel like a part of the world’s genius, not like the slightly shameful feeling I get from my local library, where adult books are stuck back in a dark corner.
What do you think about your library?
