I’m doing a summer reading class – two weeks! – Read like the wind! – on the Medieval period. I have another paper due on Moday, but I am slacking, and looking at other things, and found this;

William-Adolphe_Bouguereau_(1825-1905)_-_Pieta_(1876)

It’s stunning to see people – human people – after all that dematerializing that went on for a thousand years. I ended the paper on Giotto’s Lamentation, and I can see just a bit of him in this, or maybe the beginning of this in him. And Masaccio’s Adam, weeping on his way out of the garden.

Weird, this learning thing.
